$90 billion in investments: where do you fit in?

$90 billion in AI, data center, and energy investments were pledged in Pennsylvania as part of a summit held at my alma mater Carnegie Mellon University last month.

We talk a lot about how AI is going to change the future of work, and as part of that, we need to talk about how we are going to support this technology.

It's also time for us Gen Xers and Baby Boomers need to start thinking about how we are going to fit into this new future.

I've been brainstorming ideas since my talk this week with Sujal Kapadia, the co-founder of Jivan (an employment platform partnering with employers to meet their talent needs with experienced workers).

Sujal is actively working with numerous companies to leverage experienced talent at all levels to their fullest. He's currently working with QTS Data Centers on their immediate need for data center technicians in Cedar Rapids, Iowa:

Yes - they are looking for technicians of all ages and are actively recruiting experienced folks in their 50s and beyond.

Even if you’re not interested in a technician role, think about the ecosystem of roles around these $90 billion in investments.

Data centers need cybersecurity experts, facilities managers, engineers, renewable energy specialists, policy advisors, and project managers. Entire industries are being built around AI infrastructure and they need talent at every level.

No matter what your age is, it's important to think about where the job market is today and where it's going.

Where do you see yourself fitting in?
